The Benefits of Dermaplane (And Why You Should Try It)

Dermaplaning is one of my favorite exfoliating methods to perform and has emerged as a popular skincare technique for good reason.  It offers a myriad of benefits for those seeking a radiant and smoother complexion. This non-invasive exfoliation method involves the gentle removal of dead skin cells and fine facial hair, leaving the skin refreshed and rejuvenated. Let's delve into the world of dermaplaning, exploring its advantages and how you can seamlessly integrate it into your facial treatments.

WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?

Dermaplaning, often referred to as facial shaving or blading, is a manual exfoliation technique performed by an esthetician. A sterile surgical scalpel is used to gently scrape the surface of the skin, removing the outer layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair, commonly known as "peach fuzz."

THE BENEFITS

Exfoliation Perfection: Dermaplaning effectively exfoliates the skin, promoting cell turnover and revealing a smoother, brighter complexion. By eliminating the layer of dead skin cells, it enhances the absorption of skincare products.

Fuzz-Free Finish: The removal of vellus hair not only results in a flawlessly smooth skin surface but also allows makeup to glide on effortlessly, achieving a flawless finish.

Youthful Glow: Dermaplaning stimulates the production of collagen, a key protein responsible for skin elasticity. This can contribute to a more youthful appearance and improved skin texture.

Say Goodbye to Fine Lines: The exfoliation provided by dermaplaning can help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, promoting a more youthful and refreshed look.

IMPLEMENTING DERMAPLANING INTO FACIAL TREATMENTS

Consultation is Key: We begin with a thorough consultation to assess each client's skin type, concerns, and any contraindications (anything that suggests this isn't an ideal treatment for you). Dermaplaning is generally safe for most skin types but may not be suitable for those with active acne or certain skin conditions.

Preparation Matters: Following the consultation, I prep the the client's skin by ensuring it is clean and dry before starting the dermaplaning procedure. This helps achieve optimal results and reduces the risk of irritation.

Skilled Hands, Gentle Strokes: Only trained and licensed estheticians should perform dermaplaning (this should never be tried at home). The surgical scalpel requires precision, and gentle strokes are employed to avoid any discomfort or skin damage.

Post-Treatment Care: After dermaplaning, I advise clients to follow a gentle skincare routine. Sunscreen is crucial to protect the newly exposed skin from harmful UV rays.

Integration with Other Treatments: At Beyond Skin, I integrate dermaplaning into my custom facial treatments for enhanced results.

    REVITALIZED COMPLEXION

Dermaplaning is stands out as a versatile and effective method for achieving a healthy glow.  With proper consultation, skilled application, and post-treatment care, you can experience the undeniable benefits of dermaplaning as part of your facial treatments.
